We are asking for support for our household—my roommates, Mae and Anthony, and me, Isis—during an incredibly difficult time. I have been unable to work since December 2024 because of serious health problems, including rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, Addison’s disease, severe chronic hypoglycemia, anemia, and several infections that have resulted in repeated hospitalizations. I recently spent three months in a nursing home, and I currently have no income to cover basic needs. I am applying for disability, but the process is lengthy and there is no immediate assistance available.
Mae is living with stage 4 liver and stomach cancer and is constantly dealing with pain, fatigue, and the high cost of treatment. Her medications alone cost approximately $1,400 each month. Her fiancé is the only person in the household currently earning an income, but one income is not enough to cover rent, utilities, bills, food, medical expenses, and the needs of three people. Mae is also going through a difficult divorce and leaving an abusive relationship. Her assets have been frozen until the divorce is finalized, with no clear timeline for when that will happen. Although she has previously owned a successful business and has always been generous and supportive of her church and others in need, she is now facing a crisis of her own. Because we have fallen behind on rent, we have received an eviction notice. Donations will help us meet basic monthly needs, pay overdue bills and rent, afford Mae’s medications, and secure stable housing, including first and last month’s rent and a security deposit. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean so much to us. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also be an enormous help. Once Mae’s assets are released, she hopes to give back by donating to a nonprofit or charity chosen by those who support us. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness you can offer.
The pictures shown here are a glimpse of what life was like before the cancer and health issues took over and what we pray to God to bring us back to daily.
