A year ago, after losing three of the most important people in my life, I walked into a dance studio for the first time. I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew I needed something that was mine.
A year later, I've earned my Bronze 1 certification and moved up to Bronze 2 (the second level in the Arthur Murray ballroom dance program), competed in showcases and a Dance-O-Rama, and placed fourth in a solo competition. Dancing has become one thing that keeps me moving, keeps me healthy, and keeps me showing up for myself. It's the best thing I've done for myself in a very long time.
I have more competitions coming up this year, and they aren't cheap. Between entry fees, travel, clothing, and lodging (these events take place at resorts in cities like Orlando and Baltimore), the costs add up quickly. I'm not in trouble, and I'm not asking anyone to rescue me. I'm working to make it happen on my own, including selling items through my eBay store and taking on additional classes at Radford. I've just found something I love and could use a hand keeping it going. If you've ever wanted to support me or my dancing, here's your chance. Any amount helps, and I'm grateful for every dollar.
And if you can't give, that's completely fine. Cheer me on from where you are. That matters, too, and I certainly need moral support! The cats are getting tired of me asking them what they think of my hustle and waltz.
Thank you,
Jamie
