The refugee crisis has taken a turn for the worst on the island of Chios. The European Union and the local Greek government continues to try to make it difficult for refugees that are fleeing their war-torn countries- but they keep coming - 100's more people arrive onto the tiny Greek island every month. Summer is here and people are living in tents without air-conditioning, electricity, with very few toilets and any edible food is being rationed. These people have been forgotten- Almost all NGO’s have left the island and donations have trickled down to a minimum.
I am on my way to the Refugee Camps on Chios Island (Greece) - this Friday - In direct service to the: men, women and children that are stuck in Europe while the politicians decide their fate. Whilst their fate is being determined they wait in a shameful “prison”.
Currently 2,000 refugees are housed in one camp- that is equipped to hold only 1,100 people. This includes 500 Children & 40 Unaccompanied Minors traveling alone without their parents.
The government-supplied meals in the camp are anything but nutritious and are often not enough food.
We always work in the Chios People’s Kitchen (CPK), this is a well-run and efficient kitchen. It has an incredible crew of a few young refugees from various countries. They are determined to ensure that those most vulnerable: the very young and very old people have a healthy and nutritious meal. There are approximately 150 children, and 10 families- that are currently benefiting from this kitchen.
This crew is helping deal with the traumas of war- they volunteer in the kitchen to help with their own PTSD and cook for everyone and anyone- Not everyone who volunteers speak the same language, but through food its universal.

We are Los Angeles area residents, who are active volunteers and advocates for the refugees.
We've volunteered in Greece (in the refugee squats of Athens and the refuges camp on the island of Chios); in Turkey's (Cesme/Izmir) "wild camps", where 3,2 million refugees receive absolutely no support!
We commit that 100% of the funds will go to the refugees.
Your donations will be carefully spent. We never waste money on shipping costs. We buy locally and if shipping is required we get shipping companies to donate the shipping cost for the goods to be moved for free.
