Women & Children Escaping Domestic Abuse

Donation protected

Covid has seen a massive increase in the abuse and killings of women and children in the UK.

15 of the UK's Violence against Women and Girls Organisations have signed a letter to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), calling for action  - but the government has yet to step in (The Guardian)

Refuge opened the world’s first safe house for women and children escaping domestic violence in Chiswick, West London, in 1971. Today they are supporting women and children with housing, basic supplies and mental services.

283 GBP can offer one family:

- Emergency accommodation at a Refuge safe house (52GBP)
- Sanitary parcels containing much-needed cleaning supplies and soap (10GBP)
- Craft supplies, toys or storybooks for children arriving at the shelter (15GBP)
- Emergency parcels containing toiletries, nappies, food and clothing (25GBP)
- Child support therapy to help children to overcome the trauma of witnessing or experiencing domestic abuse (106 GBP)
- Remote working assistance by equipping an outreach Worker with a mobile phone so they can provide support for women and children escaping a violent partner. (75GBP)

More information about Refuge: Refuge opened the first refuge in West London in 1971. Since then we have grown to support almost 5,000 women and children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution and so-called 'honor' based violence.
