Running for Refuge
Please help me raise £5,000 to support Refuge.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
This cause is very close to my heart.
Several years ago, I witnessed first-hand the profound suffering a woman can endure when I supported a former partner through her escape and recovery from an abusive relationship.
That experience — and her remarkable strength — inspired me to take on the Cardiff Half Marathon wearing a 10 kg weighted vest, 2 kg weights in each hand, and 2 kg weights on each ankle.
The added weight symbolises the burden too many women are forced to carry while living through domestic abuse.
I couldn’t carry the suffering for her, no matter how hard I tried — but I can carry the weight and run the Cardiff Half in good time.
(And yes — if permitted — I may also be running with speakers on my shoulders blasting 80s power ballads.)
About Refuge
Founded in West London in 1971, Refuge was the first organisation of its kind. Today, it supports almost 7,000 women and children every day, helping those affected by domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution, and so-called “honour-based” abuse.
Thank you for supporting a cause that truly matters.
