Update on October 5: Ran the half marathon today. Some photographic evidence above. It was a beautiful morning and the people who manage the run and the course did a great job.
I very much appreciate all the generous donations. "Good effort," as Pete Q would say. It will be put to great use by the Hunger Food Network. Food is just so fundamental to human dignity and to families and to feeling less afraid about what tomorrow holds. Thanks for helping make that happen.
I'll keep this GoFundMe page open for another week just in case others would still like to donate.
My best to all of you classmates of '73 and to the friends and family who have supported and looked out for me my whole good life long.

Hi, I'm Jack Kirshbaum, and I'm running in the Milwaukee Lakefront Half Marathon on October 5 to raise money to support Hunger Task Force.
For more than 40 years, this organization has been dedicated to ensuring that everyone in the greater Milwaukee area has access to adequate nutritious food with dignity.
HTF does a lot, some of which is described in the (8-minute) video above. Could also check it out here: https://www.hungertaskforce.org/.
For me, the charity run is a version of the Milwaukee Hunger Hikes from the 1970s. Plus, I remember that my mom and a friend used to make food to donate to a kitchen downtown that gave out meals to those in need. I’m sure other people in Bay did the same.
I want to honor those actions, and I'd like to pay back MKE in some way for being a mostly good place for many of us to grow up.
Please join me in this fundraising effort if you can. And if on race day you see an old guy striding along the lakefront smoothly and swiftly ... well, that's not me, but I'll be along shortly.
Be well, and thanks very much for your generosity.
