Washington Post Tech Guild: Don't Take the Bezos Bribe

Donation protected
Jeff Bezos is the 4th richest person in the world. The Washington Post is owned by him. And right now, The Post is trying to force out 76 members of the Washington Post Tech Guild through layoffs that violate the basic protections of labor law.

These workers are in status quo — a legally protected period as they bargain towards their first union contract — cannot be legally laid off. Instead of following the law, senior management is pressuring the Tech Guild members to accept defeat, take a weak severance package and a leave quietly. They are attempting to break the union and spirit of each and every one of our members. This is not generosity. It’s a bribe.

This fund exists so Tech Guild members don’t have to choose between doing what’s right and paying their rent.

By donating, you’re helping workers feel financially secure enough to refuse illegal layoffs, stand their ground, and fight back, without being coerced into taking hush money from one of the wealthiest men on Earth. No one should be bullied out of their job because they dared to organize.
