My daughter and I have lost two important people in our lives to suicide — her father in 2016, my father in 2022. Breaking that news to her, twice, remains the hardest thing I have ever done. She was 8 when we lost her father, and 14 when we lost mine. In the years since, we have learned to hold joy and grief at the same time: every milestone celebrated, every milestone shadowed by the ones who should have been there to see it.
This campaign is about turning our grief into action. By raising funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), we can support vital initiatives that save lives and provide hope to those affected by suicide. Your contributions will help fund scientific research, advocate for crucial policies, and educate the public about mental health.
My hope is that together we can create a world where fewer families experience the loss of those they love to suicide and those struggling receive the help they need so they can be there for the milestones. Thank you for your support in making a difference and helping others find hope.
