We are 3 high school students participating in a triathlon to raise funds for The POLG Foundation.

Our close friend Frederik passed away in 2025 after years of bravely battling POLG mitochondrial disease. We are swimming, cycling and running for him, and for all the others affected by this terrible disease.

POLG is a rare genetic disorder that prevents the body's cells from producing the energy needed to function properly. Those diagnosed with POLG face a future filled with challenges that most of us can hardly imagine.

Today, there is no effective treatment and no cure.

The PolG Foundation was co-founded by Frederik who wished to help others like him. The non-profit aims to support and accelerate research to find effective treatments and a cure for POLG mitochondrial disorders.

The Foundation works with leading scientists worldwide to advance groundbreaking research. Although POLG is a rare disease, studying it could lead to discoveries with far-reaching implications for more common conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, diabetes, and certain cancers.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, will directly contribute to research to accelerate the path to a cure to this terrible, life-threatening disease.
