<div>Our close friend <strong>Frederik</strong> passed away in 2025 after years of bravely battling POLG mitochondrial disease. We are swimming, cycling and running for him, and for all the others affected by this terrible disease.

<div>POLG is a rare genetic disorder that prevents the body's cells from producing the energy needed to function properly. Those diagnosed with POLG face a future filled with challenges that most of us can hardly imagine.

<div>Today, there is no effective treatment and no cure.
</div>

</div>
<div>The PolG Foundation was co-founded by Frederik who wished to help others like him. The non-profit aims <strong>to support and accelerate research</strong> to find effective treatments and a <strong>cure </strong>for POLG mitochondrial disorders.

<div>The Foundation works with leading scientists worldwide to advance groundbreaking research. Although POLG is a rare disease, studying it could <strong>lead to discoveries</strong> with far-reaching implications for more common conditions, including <strong>Alzheimer’s</strong> disease, <strong>bipolar</strong> disorder, <strong>diabetes</strong>, and certain <strong>cancers</strong>.
