Elizabeth and her partner Nuam fled poverty and insecurity in Central America in search of safe haven. After eight years of building a life in the US, Elizebeth’s partner was taken by ICE when the couple was stopped on their way to an ultrasound appointment – Elizabeth is expecting the couple’s third child. The baby is due at the beginning of February, and Elizabeth is struggling to care for the couple’s other children, eleven and six years old, by herself. She faces bringing the baby into the world without her partner, who is in a detention center in Texas. The family urgently needs money to pay rent to ensure that Elizabeth and her three children are not houseless, and they need money for clothing, diapers, food, and winter shoes for the older children. In addition, Elizabeth must hire a lawyer to defend her partner in detention. Please help Elizabeth and her family stay united, housed, fed, and safe during this difficult time.
***The Prince George's County Immigrant Rights Collective (PGIRC) mobilizes resources to directly support immigrant families in our county that are impacted by ICE. There is extreme need across our community - PG IRC prioritizes fundraising for families that have children, at least one parent detained or deported by ICE, and that are struggling to make ends meet.***
