Most people know, but for those that don’t, on Sunday 17th March 2019, our world collapsed around us, when me and Michelle, suffered the heartbreaking news that we had lost our precious baby boy Thomas, when a scan revealed his heart was no longer beating.
Our special little boy was born sleeping on March 20th at 38 weeks + 3 days, weighing 6lb 7oz at 7:26pm. He was perfect in every way, with the cutest wee face, hands and feet.
We were blessed to have Thomas in our lives and he taught us so much, especially not to take for granted that every new parent gets to take their baby home from hospital.
We aim to raise money for SANDs (Stillbirth And Neonatal Death Support) a charity that helps families like us affected by the death of a baby. Sadly 15 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth in the UK every day. SANDs aim to reduce the number of babies dying, whilst improve bereavement care and support.
Monies raised will help provide memory boxes, which help families to create and keep cherished memories of their babies such as foot/ hand prints and help fund Bereavement Suite projects in N.Ireland, such as the Lavender Suite in Altnagelvin Hospital, which we stayed in, allowing families precious time with their baby.
As a thank you to SANDs, I am running the Waterside Half Marathon in memory of our beautiful son Thomas and aiming to raise some much needed funds for the charity. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately our lives will never be the same again, but we hope to do Thomas proud by keeping his memory alive by helping others.
