Hey folks, Samala and Skye here. If you don’t know us, we are very much Team Hazel (and Grey, Marceline, and Moises, of course; Seana and Katherine, too!) Marceline and our kid Paxton have been friends and classmates since they were 2yo. For the past four years, we’ve been so fortunate to be in community/chosen fam with Hazel-Re and her whole fam. We’ve seen her show up (and show out!) countless times for her people and her community. Hazel and Grey have helped us SO many times — last minute school pick ups, meals, absorbing Pax into their fam for a spell, and so much more. She’s frequently the first to organize a meal or gathering, offer a hug, help with childcare in a pinch, and show up with unwavering generosity and love for her people. She is a pillar of strength for her family, her friends, and every community she’s a part of. If you know Hazel-Rue, you know she’s all heart and fire. She helps her people in any/all ways she can; she will also throw down and fight ferociously, if need be.

As some of you know, Hazel has been navigating health challenges. Recently, she was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). FND is a complex medical condition that affects the nervous system — aka it’s really tough and let’s support our girl! Some of the things that come with FND: debilitating fatigue, chronic pain, mobility issues, and brain fog. I trust we all know how strong Hazel is. Even (especially?) the strong need help, too. FND has made it difficult for her to work consistently, and there’s significant financial and emotional strain for her family as a result.

True to form, even on her toughest days, Hazel focuses on her loved ones:
