On 30 July 2026, an avalanche swept down Broad Peak in Pakistan and killed ten climbers among them 6 were Nepalese climbers.
every single climbing season in the Himalaya and Karakoram, high altitude workers die doing the hardest, most dangerous jobs on the mountain and their families are left to cope with grief and financial ruin at the same time.
Government insurance for these workers tops out at a fraction of what’s needed to sustain a family for even a couple of years.
In October 2027, I’ll be going back to Nepal to climb Himlung Himal 7,126m with Black Mountaineering and 8K Expeditions one more step on my long road toward climbing Mount Everest.
I’m raising money for The Juniper Fund, which supports the families and communities of Himalayan high altitude workers with cost of living grants and business grants, so they can rebuild after tragedy rather than fall into poverty.
Over the next year I’ll be fundraising throughout my entire training block for Himlung
I will be taking part in multiple ultra marathons, endurance events, and other challenges, all in the name of the people who make Himalayan mountaineering possible but rarely get the recognition, or the safety net, that they deserve.
Every donation, big or small, goes directly to families who’ve lost everything in a single afternoon on the mountain.
