Marlene is a young, single mother from Ecuador who now calls Baltimore, MD her home. She came to the United States with her brother, both hoping for a better life and more opportunities for their family. Recently, Marlene’s brother—their only source of income—was deported back to Ecuador. This sudden loss has left Marlene and her one-year-old child in a very difficult position, struggling to afford basic necessities like rent and food while she searches for work.
Marlene is working to pay the rent and provide food for her young boy, but the sudden loss of her brother has been very disruptive. She could use support from caring community members to cover essential expenses as she figures out the best path forward. Her story is not unique—many families in our community have been torn apart by aggressive ICE enforcement, which is breaking up families and disrupting lives. These are our neighbors, friends, and community members who simply want a chance at a better future.
We support Marlene and her family because it's the right thing to do and because they deserve the opportunity to build a life in this country, like everyone else. Unfortunately, current policies are forcing families like theirs into crisis. Your support can make a real difference for Marlene and her child during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for caring and for standing with our neighbors when they need us most.
