  1. H and E met in 2018, and they have been living in Baltimore since 2024 and have two adorable young children, ages 7 years and 18 months. They came from Venezuela seeking better lives in the US and had been granted asylum. This young family was tragically torn apart when H was detained by ICE on December 22, 2025, at his regular check-in visit with immigration in Baltimore. He is now in detention in Oklahoma and is hoping to make it back to his family but needs legal assistance. E is trying to make ends meet in Baltimore, working a full-time job and juggling home and the children’s school and care. We ask that you provide any support you can for this family. The donations will go towards legal expenses and cover the family’s basic needs. Every dollar counts with the aim to get H out of detention and reunited with E and his children.

  2. Maria’s baby is in a very serious condition; her eldest son just started high school; and in late December, her husband was abducted by ICE. Maria and her husband, José, are Mayan from Guatemala. They were forced to migrate to the USA 20 years ago. Their dreams for a better future for their kids took a turn after the birth of their second son, who was diagnosed with a rare incurable disease. Today, Maria provides full-time, unpaid hospice care for her baby son. She depended on her husband for income, and ICE took him away. Medical bills, food needs, and rent expenses continue to pile up on top of the legal and financial complications ICE caused her family. We ask that you provide any support you can to a family whose roots are deeply native to this continent, to this land. Each donation will help Maria and her family as they navigate the awful harm done to them by the state, covering living expenses, legal expenses, and medical support. Thank you for any generosity you can share with this family. Also, please share widely. We, as a community, can make a massive difference by showing up for one another.

  4. Update 2/6/26: The grandparents of this family had been living in Baltimore for over 25 years. Sadly, the grandfather who was detained by ICE on 12/19/25 was deported to Mexico. The grandmother, who is still in Baltimore, plans to move to Mexico to be with her husband. She is looking to travel in early March. To cover the cost of the flight for the grandmother, we are putting out an urgent request for donations to reach this fundraiser’s goal. Thank you again for any generosity you can share. If you can't donate, please share so that others may be able to. ----------------------------------------------------------- A City College, Hampstead Hill Academy, and John Ruhrah family in Baltimore City has been struck by terror and loss due to immigration enforcement. On the morning of 12/19/25, the family was on the road together for what was supposed to be a joyous day together to shop for Christmas presents, when they were stopped by ICE agents. Three family members were detained at once in a terrifying moment witnessed by one of the family’s teen children. Now days before Christmas, 1 child has been torn away from their mother and an additional 3 children are left grieving the separation from their grandfather, aunt, and uncle. Before being torn apart on Friday 12/19, all the family members were living a loving life together under one roof, united here for 18 years; always guided by their dream to provide a better future for their children and contribute to their community with their work and kindness. We ask our school communities and allies to help this family with emergency funds, now that their home has lost 3 incomes in the blink of an eye. The family will use donated funds for basic needs and towards legal expenses. Thank you for any generosity you can share with this family. If you can't donate, please share so that others may be able to.
