Neighbors of Maderal and Dulce Nombre:

Thankfully we are in the final stretch of this long term effort to improve Maderal Road, enabling us to peacefully access our homes. Your generous contributions have made this possible. We are asking for a little more help now, to get the best and safest result possible.

Specifically, 1) The actual length of paving has gone about 18 meters beyond the 370 meters originally contracted to take care of more bad sections; 2) We have decided to widen the road slightly at the curves at bottom and top of the steep hill near the lookout for safety; 3) Three terminals at the ends of culverts under the road were damaged and must be replaced. Existing culverts were not up to regulations intended to safeguard the new paving against degradation and these have been replaced with larger culverts. 4) We are using a curing additive due to high temperatures and difficult access to water and the cost of this is slightly higher than budgeted.

Please Note--the municipality is paying for ALL the extra materials (except the additive). We only need to cover the additional labor. We need to pay our contractor weekly. The funds you donate are managed by our community ADE and audited by the government to ensure that every bit is being properly utilized. Any remaining funds will be reserved for future road needs.
