On Sept. 10, The Kansas City Star's parent company McClatchy laid off six of our union members.
We lost our team of government accountability reporters, journalists who question leaders in Kansas City and suburbs in both Kansas and Missouri.
At The Star, they have balanced investigating the area's biggest stories — like the Royals and Chiefs stadium negotiations and the FIFA World Cup — while shining a light on the experiences of metro residents.
These journalists have given their energy and empathy to The Star and its readers, and we want to give back to them.
Everything you give will help the laid off reporters maintain financial stability during this abrupt transition.
