Support Lafayette's Bicycle Rack Art Murals

Art on Wheels is a community initiative in Lafayette, Louisiana, which seeks to install Bicycle Rack Art Murals across our hub city!

Want to make an impact in our beloved community? These racks:

Team Art on Wheels seeks to increase the quantity of bicycle parking and bring visibility to cyclists in our hub city by installing Bicycle Parking Art Murals at businesses, grocery stores, schools, health care, parks, restaurants, libraries, and more.

The full cost of a Bicycle Rack Art Mural is $1,500; this cost covers the full cost of the local manufacturing of the rack ($1,500), installation ($595), and the painting supplies ($100) and artist award fee ($100). The first 2 racks are fully funded by the 24-Hour Citizen Project and will be installed in 2025, but we will still have a shortage of safe places to rack up your bike in Lafayette so we need the community’s support to keep the momentum up so we can continue to install these bike racks at end-of-trip destinations across Lafayette. We have already received a few requests from local businesses, restaurants, and parks who plan to purchase a Bicycle Rack Art Mural for the front of their establishment, but not every business is able to purchase their own rack. This is why we need your support! We hope to raise $2,300 by 2026 to help Fightingville Fresh, a neighborhood farmer's market located in an area of town with high cyclist ridership, install their very own Bicycle Rack Art Mural.

Cyclists deserve parking, so why not make it beautiful too? Our stance is if there is parking for cars, then there should also be parking for bicycles! Help us make Lafayette a bike-friendly city and support us by installing vibrant Bicycle Parking Art Murals in Lafayette. This project could be the catalyst project to get more citizens interested in cycling and investing in bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Lafayette.
