Support Held Space's New Community Hub

Based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Held Space is a collective of open-minded, kind-hearted people united by a shared passion for mental health, movement, and creativity. Since our founding in 2022, we’ve raised thousands of dollars for local causes, including the Greenpoint Community Kitchen, P.S. 34, & more.

Thanks to our growing community, we’ve outgrown our spaces at Java Studios, where we currently have one therapy office & a 12-person studio.

We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a lease at 960 Manhattan Ave , a 4,000 square foot space in a beautiful historic brick building just steps from the G train!! This is a raw space that we’ll be building out specifically to meet our needs. We’ll remain at Java Studios while the build-out is underway & hope to move to 960 Manhattan by August 1, 2025.

This expansion will allow us to fully realize our multi-faceted vision for Held Space:

-For mental health & wellness practitioners in private practice, a workplace that encourages professional autonomy while facilitating collaboration with like-minded peers

-For group facilitators, a flexible, fully stocked & affordable studio space to share their offerings with up to 25 participants

-For ANYONE, a radically accepting third space, where they can come for mental healthcare, movement, creativity, connection & play

Held Space values purpose over profit, which means we operate on a very tight budget & have no outside investors. Our founder Laura Temple & her husband Ryan Barry have invested all that they can from their personal savings to secure the lease. So now we need your help!

Here’s what you’ll be funding, specifically:

-Building Costs to create 5 private offices, the Studio, kitchenette & storage (estimated $60K)

-Moving Costs

-Furnishings for therapy/bodywork rooms & the VERY large common area

-Additional props for the expanded yoga capacity

-Cleaning supplies, kitchen equipment, all the little things that make a place feel like home :)

-Payment for our lovely, hard-working staff who are working overtime to get us ready for the move

Held Space has been proudly located in Greenpoint since its founding in 2022. We are deeply rooted in this neighborhood & committed to helping our neighbors thrive, and we can't wait to host more fundraisers in our new location.
