It started with my Birthday Fitness Challenge! A month in advance of my 63rd birthday I decided to try to turn my hours on social media into something beneficial. I needed to get into shape, so used that as an excuse to to raise money for the Greater Chicago Food Depository (Chicago's main food bank.)
I asked my social media friends to consider my two challenges:
Option 1: Pledge X $ per Push-up I do over a minimum of 25, without stopping except for a brief rest in the up position. OR
Option 2: Join me in competition! You name the $ per push up and whoever loses pays that times the difference between us (if you win I pay to your charity). I accepted ALL challenges, regardless of age.
On my birthday I posted a video of my attempt in which I did 63 push-ups! (38 more than my minimum of 25). Here's the Video of the Push-up Attempt
In celebration I will personally MATCH all contributions below made by October 10th. Thanks for your love & support!
Greater Chicago Food Depository
Our mission is to end hunger. The Greater Chicago Food Depository, the food bank serving all of Chicago and Cook County, believes that food is a basic human right. To achieve our mission, we work in partnership with a robust network of community-based organizations and individuals. Together, we connect our neighbors with healthy food, lift our voices and advance solutions that address the root causes of hunger poverty, systemic inequity and structural racism. The Food Depository is a member of the Feeding America national network of food banks.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Even just a few dollars can help move this mission forward and reach those who need it most.
If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means the world to me.
