I am Ashley Burkett. I am fundraising for the benefit of my dad, John Burkett. He has overcome a great deal in the past few years--most recently being the passing of his wife of 25 years. I know times are tough for everyone, but every little bit helps. I would like to raise some cash for my father to help take care of some major expenses: paying the mortgage for a few months and retitling the handicap-accessible van into his name. Please help me to make life a little easier for him and give him the ability to continue recovering from his amputation and the loss of his wife.

Details:

In 2023, my dad suffered from a slow-leaking rupture of the appendix, which led to sepsis and several major abdominal surgeries. Luckily, he recovered.

The following year saw my stepmother in and out of the hospital with her own infections and injuries, which left her bedridden for months. Luckily, she recovered.

In early 2025, my dad underwent lower-leg amputation surgery to remove a life-threatening bone infection. Around June of 2025, my stepmom became ill again, and this time, it was too much for her body to recover. After months in the hospital yet again, she was brought home for hospice care and unfortunately passed away this past October.

During all these setbacks, finances have become strained, and now they're tougher than ever with Dad only having his income. I would like to raise some cash for my father to help take care of some major expenses: paying the mortgage for a few months and retitling the handicap-accessible van into his name. Please help me to make life a little easier for him and give him the ability to continue recovering from his amputation and the loss of his wife.
