For this fall season, the Local Link Market will be fundraising for the Breakthrough nonprofit. Breakthrough is a nonprofit organization that supports friends and neighbors of East Garfield Park with compassionate care while sharing a safe space for its community members to thrive.

Breakthrough’s Fresh Market program​ supports locals of 60612 and 60624 with free, high quality produce and household items. With recent changes to SNAP qualifications, fewer people are able to access resources to support themselves and their families.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository reported that SNAP enrollment fell 23% in Cook County between July 2025 and July 2026. That’s nearly 196,000 fewer residents receiving benefits than a year ago. We want to do our part in helping Chicago communities.
