My name is Alex Bakken, and I currently serve as the elected sheriff of Carbon County, Wyoming and the Coordinator of our Search and Rescue Teams.
As the cost of reliable communication equipment such as radios and dispatch consoles continue to rise, I will be running a 100-mile race to raise funds to upgrade our sheriff's communication equipment, helping to defray the cost from our county's general funds.
100% of the proceeds will be split between the Carbon County Sheriff's Office (for operational communication equipment upgrades,) and the Carbon County Search and Rescue Teams (for operational communication equipment upgrades.)
In addition, this 100-mile journey is aimed to raise awareness of the impact that state-level property tax reduction legislation has on local governments and emergency services in the state of Wyoming.
I have never ran anything farther than a marathon, so this should be entertaining at least!
Thank you everyone!
