We are Vinlandferth, an American Veteran's Charity that has commissioned a replica Gokstad Viking Longship from the Danish Museum of The Viking Ship in Roskilde. We will be sailing this vessel in a world record Transatlantic odyssey along Eric The Red's path, before adding Montréal, Chicago, New Orleans, and it's ultimate destination Pensacola, Florida from June 2027 until approximately September 2027.

We have assembled an international crew, consisting mostly of American Veteran's who have all signed on for this 90-120 day voyage in as close to Period Accurate equipment as we can reasonably obtain. We will be going from Roskilde Denmark to The Shetland Island, The Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland (where we will be primitive camping in the Greenland wilderness), L'anse Aux Meadows, Montréal, Chicago, then cruising down the Mississippi River until we hit the gulf coast and come to our landing spot.

Long term we wish to build a replica Viking Village, Hinge Fortress, and museum dedicated to this voyage and our mission to improve Veteran's mental health through encouraging getting out there and making your dreams come true.

We were founded by Keith Alexander, a USMC veteran with a passion for history and a relentless drive to accomplish his dream.

We aim to build a months long moment of international unity through our voyage, honoring Scandinavian contributions to The American Melting Pot and global Maritime Heritage. We are an apolitical organization dedicated to strengthening the ties of friendship and respect between the home countries of all of our team members, planned stops, and the greater global community observing.
