Hello, my name is Mahmoud Al Nahhal, and I am the organiser of this GoFundMe campaign. I am not the direct beneficiary of the funds. The donations collected will go to support Mahmoud Omar, who is the person truly in need.
I’m organizing this campaign for him because GoFundMe isn’t available in Gaza, so he can’t manage it himself. I’m collecting donations on his behalf and will transfer the funds directly to him. This is his story, told in his own words.
Hello everyone, My name is Mahmoud. I am a father of four, born and raised in Rafah, Gaza Strip.
For years, I worked tirelessly—first as a cart driver, then saving every coin to buy a small taxi—just to build a future for my family.
I built a modest apartment above my parents’ home,
married the love of my life, Julian, and together we raised our four children: Oday (11), Rawand (9), Omar (6), and little Samir (4).
We lived a simple but hopeful life. I sold my wife’s gold to buy the taxi, dreaming that I could provide better for them.
Then came the war in October 2023.
Our work stopped. Streets were destroyed. We fled from Rafah to Khan Yunis, leaving everything behind. In the chaos, my taxi—the only source of income—was stolen just days before Eid in 2025.
But that wasn’t the worst.
On April 18, 2025, at 10:00 PM, a bombing struck near our tent. My wife Julian was hit in the head. The shrapnel damaged the speech center in her brain. Now, the woman who once sang to our children and filled our home with joy cannot speak clearly anymore. My young son was also injured in the foot.
And in April 2025, the final heartbreak arrived:
Our home—the one I built with my hands, on the rooftop of my family’s house in Rafah—was completely demolished. Nothing remains.
We have lost everything. But we have not lost faith.
If you’d like any proof or more information, I’d be happy to provide it.
