Our Purpose:
We are organizing among and on behalf of the students of CA O2 in the Ridhwan School facing risk due to financial insecurity as a result of the CA Shelter In Place orders.
Our goal is to place funds directly into the pockets of fellow students in need.
Background:
After our March meeting Stephen, Jane and others initiated an inquiry with the Friends of Ridhwan about how we might proceed to support one another. We realized that Ridhwan staff are severely taxed at this time; also that working within existing structures of the School, were it even possible, would take too much processing time to get funds to needy students in a timely way.
We think need-based, community-driven relief is of utmost importance at this time. So this campaign is not an official Ridhwan School/ Diamond Approach fundraising campaign and donations cannot be tax deductible; this campaign has been created by and for students of CA O2.
We aim to keep this exchange between at-risk students and kind-hearted, able members of our community as egalitarian, quick, and stress-free as possible.
Fund Redistribution Details:
We are not yet sure how well our ability to raise funds will match the need within our community. We hope to meet all requests received through the second quarter of 2020 - to that end the target for funding may increase if additional funding requests are received.
Campaign organizers will keep record of all the payments mailed to recipients on a spreadsheet to share with any fellow O2 student who may request it; recipients will have the choice to be anonymous or not according to their preference.
This platform takes a 2.9% fee and a 30 cent transaction cost per donation to pay processing fees, and requests a donation for the platform. For information see https://www.gofundme.com/c/blog/gofundme-fees.
If needed we may revisit the funding goal for the third or fourth quarters of 2020.
This campaign is only just going live, but already we have felt your grounded, meaningful support for this effort and for one another as a sangha/field/community of love.
Our deep gratitude to and for you.
Please contact Jennifer McDougall, Jane Walter, Stephen Colgan -- find their contact info in your email or through the roster in the Ridhwan Portal -- with any questions.
