Hello, this is Ryan Spence from Fifth Floor Tacoma. The skate community in Tacoma has been working to build a citywide network of skateparks since 1996. We are raising money to make repairs and replace poorly constructed skate features at Stewart Heights skatepark (AKA 56th) in South Tacoma.
This park is easily accessed by public transit and is located in a historically under-resourced community.
The park was constructed in 2008 and desperately needs updates. The skate community worked with Parks Tacoma to secure a State RCO Grant to build a new bowl, but there was no funding to update the existing park.
Since crews are on-site building the bowl, we can do the upgrades to the existing park for only the cost of time and materials. This means every $1 raised contributes to $4-5 of upgrades.
The skatepark builder is contributing $10,000 in in-kind work, and the skate community has raised $10,000. We are hoping to raise $10-20k more. We need to act fast since work is underway. We hope to have the funds in place by 10/31/25. Please join us in the first Tacoma skatepark project since 2012.
Thank you!
