Hi, my name is Katya. I’m a mother of four girls—ages 10, 8, 7, and 5—and we are currently escaping a domestic abuse situation that lasted 12 years.

This was not an easy decision. I stayed far longer than I should have because I was afraid, financially trapped, and trying to protect my children the only way I knew how.

Alongside the physical and emotional abuse, I experienced severe financial abuse. I was never allowed to work, save money, or build independence. I was married and pregnant at 19, and because of that, I never had the opportunity to pursue schooling, job training, or develop work experience. Leaving meant leaving with almost nothing—but staying was no longer an option.

Right now, my daughters and I are starting over from scratch. We are working toward safety, stability, and healing. Funds raised will help us cover immediate necessities such as:

• Safe housing and utilities

• basic living expenses

• Clothing and school needs for four growing girls

• Transportation

• Legal and administrative costs related to our situation

• Long-term steps toward independence, including education and job training
