Preserve the Voices of Recovery — Rebuild Recovery Speakers
For more than 20 years, Recovery Speakers has helped preserve the living history of the recovery movement — with a special focus on Alcoholics Anonymous, early AA history, and some of the most important recovery recordings ever captured.
Over the years, the Recovery Speakers archive has grown into one of the world’s most meaningful collections of recovery experience, strength, and hope.
The archive contains historic recordings from AA founders and early pioneers, speakers from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, historic conventions and meetings, and many of the voices that helped shape the recovery movement itself.
Recently, Recovery Speakers experienced a catastrophic infrastructure failure involving a former hosting environment. As a result, more than 35,000 media file associations and production delivery systems were permanently removed from the live server environment.
While devastating, the archive itself still survives. Over the years, Recovery Speakers preserved backup copies of recordings and media assets across multiple hard drives and archival sources. What was lost was the massive infrastructure, organization systems, file mapping, naming structures, and automated delivery platform that connected the archive to the public website.
But we refused to let these voices go silent.
Phase 1 Completed: The New Platform is Live!
Thanks to the incredible support of our community in raising over $25,000 during Phase 1, we have successfully secured our permanent new home at recoveryspeakers.org and built a beautiful, high-speed, secure digital platform. We have launched the active Museum of Recovery Archives, featuring a museum-grade split-screen gallery showcasing first-edition recovery artifacts!
Phase 2: Launching August 1st, 2026 — Expanding the Archive
Now, we are working with an elite team of developers to build and launch Phase 2 by August 1st, 2026. This phase will expand the site into an unprecedented, searchable recovery sanctuary:
- Over 1,000+ Restored Talks: Restoring and indexing over 1,000 historic talks from our offline vaults.
- Full Transcriptions & Synchronized Captions: Complete verified text transcripts and scrolling captions that sync perfectly with the audio playback.
- "Ask the Archive" AI-Powered Search: A revolutionary tool allowing you to search the transcripts for specific topics, keywords, or quotes, and jump directly to that exact second in the audio.
- Expanded Museum: Digitizing and displaying dozens of rare, newly acquired historical recovery pamphlets, personal letters, and pioneer documents.
To launch Phase 2 by August 1st, we are raising our immediate milestone goal to $75,000. Your support directly funds developer resources, AI transcription APIs, high-security cloud hosting, and professional archiving equipment.
Thank you for keeping the message alive and helping us preserve these voices for generations to come!
