Hello my friends,
For the last 6 years, my brother, Pietro, has struggled with health issues associated with the progression of his cirrhosis. Unfortunately, in May of this year, he was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma and he faces a difficult road ahead with much uncertainty. Through his specialist at Toronto General Hospital, he was able to receive a compassionate supply of a drug used in radioembolization therapy, a treatment that is given to liver cancer patients to help prolong life. I am reaching out to my friends and family so that Pietro doesn’t have to suffer in silence with this disease, but can stand on our shoulders as we support him during this challenging time.
Pietro is the proud father of two sons, Dillinger (age 16) and Kalan (age 14). They are the centre of his universe and he still refers to them as his “babies.” Anyone who has met my brother knows that he could walk into a room full of strangers and be friends with them by the end of the night. As a DJ for almost 25 years, Pietro has always preached that house music brings people together. But over the years, through the eyes of a brother, I have learned that it wasn’t just the music that brought people together; it was Pietro himself who united so many different people that have crossed paths with him and been touched by his incredible spirit, unabashed humour, and love for everyone.
This fundraiser is to help alleviate the financial hardships that Pietro is currently experiencing while he's at home and no longer able to work. Disability payments will take time before they start coming in, but the amount isn’t enough to cover his mortgage, car payments, and other living expenses. The money raised on this page will allow my brother to be present for his children without worry or distractions while he is still healthy enough to make more memories with those he loves. It will also be used to help Dillinger and Kalan pursue their educational aspirations when they are older. Pietro is a proud man, but one who is willing to ask for help when the time is right, and that time is now.
