Noor: Light in Times of Darkness

Noor is a free to watch performance (premiering on Youtube) in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. I believe that talent and passion are amplified when used for the greater good. Kathak is especially precious to me because it is the perfect combination of tradition and change; not only has it offered me an invaluable connection to my culture, but it is an incredibly versatile dance form and irreplaceable conduit through which to address contemporary issues. Through my first production Noor, I intend to utilize my passion for dance to enact change in our society, and I hope you will support me in my mission. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the blessings of legendary kathak maestros NrityaShiromoni Guru Bandana Sen and NrityaVilash Guru Suchandra Banerjee, who have choreographed all pieces that will be presented by California Nupur Dance Academy. Special thanks to my Guruji, Smt. Dipanwita Sengupta, for guiding and supporting me every step of the way, and renowned performers Svetlana Tulasi and Sunena Gupta for helping me make a difference.
