HELP STOP A CITY GOVERNMENT ERROR FROM ALLOWING A HUGE CELL TOWER TO BE BUILT ON COLORADO BLVD DUE TO A TECHNICALITY.
PROTECT THE BEAUTY OF EAGLE ROCK AND THE INTEGRITY OF LOCAL LAWS!
Verizon wants to build a 45 FOOT TALL CELL TOWER at the intersection of Colorado Blvd. and Argus Dr., next to My Vegan restaurant.
This would be a gross violation of The Colorado Boulevard Specific Plan. The Specific Plan is a law that was passed 32 years ago. It exists to protect the character and charm of Eagle Rock’s main boulevard. Verizon knows this but is trying to circumvent the law in multiple ways.
No one in our community had a chance to voice their opposition to the cell tower project because the Department of City Planning cancelled the public hearing about it, and led us to believe that the project was not moving forward.
Members of the neighborhood have been organizing to stop this project. It has become clear that hiring a professional land use consultant with a deep understanding of the complex web of city/state/federal regulations to lead our campaign will dramatically improve our chances of success. We have also had to hire an attorney.
The only way we can stop the installation of this monstrosity is if as many of us as possible get involved. Five households have already contributed $500 each for a total of $2500!
PLEASE CONTRIBUTE as much as you can and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same. Our goal is to raise an additional $5000 to cover the cost of retaining the land use consultant, attorney's fees and other expenses like filing fees for appeals, banners, copies and more.
