Livvy's Bat Mitzvah Challenge Fundraiser

As some of you may know, my Bat Mitzvah ceremony is taking place in Leicester.

Why Leicester you may ask... well apart from it being the home of Jamie Vardy it's also where my Dad grew up, the Rabbi and Rebbetzin are possibly the nicest, most caring people I have ever met and the shul where I will be doing my ceremony is also the shul my dad had his Bar Mitzvah in!

So what is my challenge.... As we are having my Ceremony in Leicester I thought it would be special if I could in some way incorporate where my Mum grew up going to shul, and also include my Jewish learning in Mill Hill ....

So, on Sunday 21st August I will be walking from Mill Hill Shul to Central Synagogue ....This is a 9 mile walk and will be a huge challenge for me, as most of you know I hate walking anywhere!!

By doing this walk I am trying to raise money for two charities that I am very passionate about -

The first charity I am supporting is Comfort Cases UK (https://comfortcasesuk.org/). For those of you who may not have heard of them, let me tell you about them. Comfort Cases provides backpacks filled with essential items to children who are entering the foster care system. I feel passionately that at this very challenging time in a young person's life they need something that is theirs to take with them as they leave their family behind, facing months or years of uncertainty. Although it may not sound like much, these backpacks allow these children to have something they can take with them on their journey, they also contain essential healthcare items, pyjamas, books and a blanket - basic items that can hopefully provide these children some comfort.

Secondly, I have been preparing for my Bat Mitzvah by learning with Rivkie Pink, who is the Rebbetzin at Leicester shul and helps run Chabad Leicester. Without her support, I would not have learned as much as I have over the last year and I know it is not just me who benefits from her support and guidance.
