About Us
We're a group of five students from the University of Tennessee who have come together under the shared belief that combining community service and action on campus can create meaningful change right here in Knoxville. During the next few months of this project, we aim to connect our campus with the children in Knoxville, who may end up in similar situations to ours, and the Isaiah 1:17 house that is making a change in so many children's lives.
About the Organization
The Isaiah 117 House is a non-profit organization that operates throughout Tennessee and beyond. Its mission seems simple, but it changes many lives. They provide safe, comforting, and loving interim housing for children who are displaced from their homes in times of Crisis and are not yet in the foster care system. Instead of waiting in offices or sterile government buildings with people they don't know and not knowing where they're going to go, the children of Isaiah 1:17 house are welcome into a Cozy home and given a chance to feel safe during some of the hardest days in their lives, as well as a sense of belonging.
The Need
Every year in Knoxville, countless children are placed into the foster care system. This transition is complex, often initiated during times of stress and Trauma, without the support of the Isaiah 117 house. Many of these children spend hours to days in Office Buildings, not knowing what comes next or where they will be going. The instability and uncertainty of the process only add to their fear.
Isaiah 1:17 addresses the root of the problem by providing a safe and comforting home environment during their first hours of displacement; however, they are entirely funded by the community. Well, they're not a government entity or organization; they cannot do anything that they do without Community support. It costs around $300 to fund a child's day at the Isaiah 117 house. This cost includes meals, clothing, toiletries, and everything that would ensure they stay as comfortable as possible during this hard time.
Our Campaign Goal
Our goal throughout our campaign is to raise $1,000 to support the Isaiah 17 house in Knoxville. This amount will cover the expenses for the three children staying at the house, and any amount above will be used to support the following children coming to and staying at the Isaiah 117 house. These funds will help the kids with clothing, meals, toiletries, and any Essentials they need to feel comfortable. Our campaign ensures that this community-founded organization will provide these children with the dignity, safety, comfort, and care they deserve when they need it most.
Community Impact
Your support of our Campaign Will directly impact children in Knoxville and the greater Knox County area. No matter how big or small, each donation ensures that a child in crisis experiences a warm home instead of an office building and a loving Community instead of a fight for one uncertain experience. By helping Isaiah 117 houses, you're not only supporting foster children in need, but you're also strengthening an organization that is Knoxville's foster care safety net for the most vulnerable and Young members of our community.
