Heya friends, a friend from the Komari Village, Arugam bay, Sri Lanka has reached out for help. I met Siraj during my time visiting Sri Lanka earlier this year.

We spoke about the poor conditions for women and how progress needs to happen. The hostel I stayed at was based in the middle of the village in hopes of bringing change and transformation to better the rights of women within the community.

These women don’t get to choose who they marry, have only domestic roles within the home, with little access to money and change.

The poor/ lack of education means girls don’t have the chance to get out of this cycle.

As the rainy season season approaches Sri Lanka, Siraj aims to build a school/ centre for the women and the children within the village to have shelter and an opportunity to have a better life.

They say ask and you shall receive, a friend from afar has asked.
