Women's Shelter Needs Cabinets & Appliances

Tax deductible
The 24 Hour OPTCC is a long running local non-profit that operates two childcare centers in inner city Oakland, founded in 1973 by an amazing woman Ms. Nina Tanner-Smith.  Her approach is focused on early childhood development for underserved children, which often means extending support to the entire family.  In 1992, she saw a need for emergency family housing and founded a shelter for women and children in Oakland’s Eastmont area.  The shelter serves up to 8 homeless women (and their children) at a time.  Budget money is always tight, and allocated to critical needs.

The shelter’s kitchen is very run down now in desperate need of properly functioning refrigerators, new cabinets, and fresh paint.   We have volunteers willing to do the work, but are looking for help to support the funding for new materials and appliances.   The total cost needed for the kitchen project is $5000.  In addition to providing an adequate and healthy space for the families to prepare food, we plan to provide a bright and lively place for these mothers and their children to enjoy their meals.

Thanks in advance for your contribution that will mean so much to the families at the shelter!
