My daughter is 27 weeks pregnant and recently found out she has Placenta Accreta. In many cases, this results in the doctors having to make that hard decision on saving the mother or the baby. Her medical team will do everything they can to save both. She will enter the hospital at 30 weeks (or sooner if circumstances change), where the doctors will give her blood transfusions and also shots that will hopefully help the baby’s lungs develop faster. This will result in her being in the hospital for 30+ days, and the baby may need to be in the NICU for months.
She will deliver at 32 weeks and immediately have to have a total hysterectomy to prevent her from hemorrhaging. She will remain in ICU for several days, and the baby will immediately go to the NICU. She will be completely sedated throughout the entire delivery and surgery and will not even be able to see her baby for several days.
My daughter is a single mother with 2 other children at home. She is a Certified Nursing Assistant and due to her condition has been put on bed rest, therefore unable to work. She doesn’t qualify for short-term disability. The stress this has put on her is something no mother should ever endure. This should be a happy time in her life.
Please consider contributing to alleviate a ton of financial worries for her during this critical time in her life. There is nothing too small, and I promise you when she is able, she will pay it forward.
