Kaleidoscope was born from years spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where I learned how to sit with families navigating life, death, and everything in between.

One of those children was Sedona. I was her NICU nurse when she entered the world far too soon, and later supported her family as her in-home caregiver. Sedona’s life — and her unexpected passing at just 17 months old — called me into deeper work supporting families through pediatric end-of-life, transition, and grief.

Kaleidoscope now lives as a branch of the 501(3)c, Sedona Butterfly Effect, continuing her legacy by offering compassionate, community-rooted support to families during one of the most tender times of their lives.

We envision a world where every terminally ill child and their family are met with comfort, dignity, and unwavering support. We provide inclusive, community-rooted opportunities where children and their loved ones feel emotionally, spiritually, and logistically nurtured, even in life’s most difficult moments.

Mission at Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope is a non-profit initiative that works in collaboration with Doulas, healthcare teams, therapeutic providers, and community partners, to:

- Educate: Bring visibility, guidance, and understanding to the pediatric end-of-life journey.

- Connect: Build a network of trained “Partners in Community” who work together to deliver integrative, non-medical care.

- Support: Provide equitable access to child- and family-centered services that honor each family’s values and needs.

Why we're fundraising:

Our initial fundraising goal will allow us to take our first, very real steps into service by:

Funding our bank account and covering website design and other startup costs,

Providing direct, non-medical support to a family navigating a pediatric end-of-life journey,

Covering care materials, coordination, and presence during critical moments,

And by working individually with families to find and fill any gaps within their current care team.

This first milestone helps us build momentum toward our larger goal: fully funding care for families at an estimated $15,000 per family, and growing our circle of support beyond our initial service area of Los Angeles County.
