We’re members of Mutual Aid Mi'kma'ki writing to you today as we collaborate with others for an upcoming event in Africville on Monday July 28th from 12pm-5pm.

We recognize this is very last minute, and we feel like even so, if the community comes together in solidarity we can make this happen.

We’re reaching out to people, businesses, and organizations that operate within the North End and are asking for some financial acts of solidarity as we join the call to action on Monday from Africville descendants and the larger community.

In this Gofundme, we have attached the event poster as well as a brief information overview of the history of Africville and how that is affecting the community presently.

We are looking for people to come together and support the costs it will take to cover expenses, primarily food and compensation, for the local Black business owners providing it and their staff as they work to nourish the gatherers.

Africville was a historic Black community in the North End that was forcibly pushed out and dispersed by the city of Halifax.

To this day, descendants of Africville have moved in the North End are being further gentrified while other people, organizations, and businesses move in.

We’re asking people to send any amount to offset the costs of this call to action. We have already raised $500 to put towards this in our own efforts, but we need your help to feed the communities coming out for this event

We will include your name/business/organization on a public post to note your contributions to the call for support and as people showing solidarity to nourish the communities coming out that day.
