A True Miracle

Friday night, something incredible happened—my stepdad Jaime received the phone call he had been waiting for. After a long and difficult journey, he was finally matched with a kidney donor.

For those who know Jaime, you know how strong, positive, and full of life he’s remained throughout this process. Despite undergoing dialysis three times a week, he never stopped being himself—always joking, smiling, and keeping everyone's spirits up.

When that life-changing call came in, he and my mom rushed to San Antonio to be at the hospital by 8 PM. Since then, everything has gone smoothly. The surgery was a success, and Jaime is now slowly but steadily recovering.

With everything happening so quickly, my mom and his son Mario have been traveling back and forth from home to the hospital to be by his side. It’s been a whirlwind—emotionally, physically, and financially.
