Konnecting the Dots CIC urgently needs a reliable van to help individuals and families move safely from homelessness, temporary accommodation and unsuitable housing into secure homes.

For someone who has experienced homelessness, receiving the keys to a property should be a moment of hope. Unfortunately, many people reach this important stage with no money for removal costs, no suitable transport and no way of moving their belongings.

Some have only a few bags. Others have children, furniture and the possessions they have managed to hold on to through an extremely difficult period of their lives.

Without affordable transport, a housing offer can quickly become another overwhelming obstacle.

WHO WE ARE

Konnecting the Dots CIC is a Community Interest Company dedicated to eradicating homelessness—one step at a time.

We work directly with individuals and families who are homeless, sofa surfing, living in temporary accommodation or struggling to secure and maintain a suitable home.

However, our work is not limited to people experiencing homelessness.

We also support:

• Families moving out of temporary accommodation

• People escaping domestic abuse or unsafe living conditions

• Care leavers and vulnerable young adults

• Disabled people moving into more suitable accommodation

• Mothers and children starting again

• People relocating because their existing property is unaffordable or unsuitable

• Individuals moving between properties who have no practical support

We walk alongside people throughout the process—from finding accommodation and completing applications to liaising with councils and landlords, preparing for the tenancy and helping them settle into their new home.

WHY WE URGENTLY NEED A VAN

At the moment, we must rely on hired vehicles, removal companies or the availability of other people whenever somebody needs to move.

These costs quickly add up and can delay a move at the very moment a vulnerable person needs us most.

Having our own van would allow us to respond more quickly and help more people. It would enable us to:

• Move individuals and families into safe accommodation

• Collect and deliver donated furniture and household essentials

• Transport Konnect Fresh Starter Packs

• Help people move between temporary and permanent homes

• Support emergency and urgent relocations

• Collect beds, tables, chairs and other essential items before they are lost

• Reduce the cost of supporting each household

• Reach more vulnerable people across our communities

This van would not sit unused. It would be a working community resource, helping people move forward throughout the year.

MORE THAN A MOVE

A move is never just about transporting boxes.

It may be a mother taking her children away from an unsafe environment.

It may be someone leaving temporary accommodation after months or years of uncertainty.

It may be a disabled person moving into a home that finally meets their needs.

It may be a person who has experienced homelessness carrying the few possessions they have into a place they can finally call their own.

Behind every move is a real person, a real story and the opportunity for a fresh start.

HOW YOUR DONATION WILL HELP

The money raised will help us purchase and prepare a safe, dependable van for community use. Funding will contribute towards:

• Purchasing the van

• Insurance and road tax

• MOT, servicing and initial repairs

• Safety and security equipment

• Moving blankets, straps and protective equipment

• Fuel and essential running costs
