Help us provide at least one hot meal and one care packet each week to Charlotte homeless population in desperate need.
Because of the social distancing guidelines, several dozen homeless people in Charlotte area have been hit hard and have been forced to live in tents on the side of the road near uptown. We (along with some friends from the neighboring areas of Ballantyne/University Area and our non-profit friends Sikh Education Foundation of Carolinas, Sikh Gurdwara of Charlotte, MeckMIN, Block Love, etc.) have been going twice a week for last 12 weeks, providing one hot meal and care packets. We have also provided some free masks, ice coolers and tents, as more people were forced to come on the road.
We have pledged to continue this service for another 10-12 weeks (or more if we can raise more money) and prepare 70 hot meals and care packets a week to help care for the people in need, but we need your help! Each meal costs us $3 to make including supplies. Each care packet costs us $4 which includes granola bars, cereal bars, water bottle, oranges, banana, cheese crackers, personal hygiene items (vary each week). With summer heat, we are also planning to donate water coolers and provide ice two times a week, if not more. We will also like to start a cold milk based drink station once a week.
So any donation big or small will help us reach our goal of $490 a week!
You can also donate water bottles, granola/cereal bars and/or other care packet items. If you wish to prepare hot meal and serve with us, please contact us.
Here are some pictures from last few weeks.
