We’re making progress on our long battle to restore our home from serious mold damage, and we need your help to reach the final stretch so we can safely move back in.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of so many people, our new roof is scheduled for installation in mid-July. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who donated toward the roof replacement — it’s a huge step forward.
A special thank you goes to the members of our community who stepped up to help remove the old ducting and furnace, and to the VFW Post 9301 for organizing work parties and providing so much support during this difficult time. Your kindness and hard work have meant more than we can say.
We still face significant remaining work to make the house safe from mold. After careful assessment, the minimum amount we need to complete the essential remediation and repairs is around $25,000. This will cover critical items such as new insulation, drywall, flooring, toilets, sinks, etc. I will update a post with a Home Depot link with the necessary items (with the exception of the attic/crawlspace insulation, disposal costs of old drywall) and other necessary work to make the home habitable again.
I will be doing the majority of the demo work myself to keep costs as low as possible. Every dollar raised will go directly toward getting our family back into a safe, healthy home.
We know times are tough for many people, so any amount — even $5 or $10 — truly helps and is greatly appreciated.
Sharing our story with others also makes a big difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us through this challenging journey. Your support is helping us rebuild not just a house, but our family’s sense of security and peace.
With gratitude,
Oscar & Lisa
