Hello!
We're Greg, Angela and Jodi—three lifelong Vancouver Island residents and friends of more than 25 years who share a simple vision.
We believe Vancouver Island deserves a place to call its own online.
That's why we created **Vancouver Island Life, powered by LOCORA**.
LOCORA was inspired by two simple ideas: **Local** and **Aura**.
Every community has its own unique atmosphere, personality and spirit. Every town has its own stories, traditions, businesses, events, hidden gems and people who make it special. Our goal is to bring that local spirit online and create one welcoming place where people can discover, connect and celebrate everything that makes Vancouver Island extraordinary.
This isn't just another marketplace.
It isn't just another directory.
It isn't just another tourism website.
It's a community platform built by local people, for local people.
Our vision is to create one modern platform where you can:

The world is changing.
Today, it's easier than ever to shop from large international companies, but that also means many local businesses, community organizations and independent creators struggle to be discovered.
We believe our communities deserve better.
When local people discover local businesses, local events and local services, everyone benefits.
Every dollar spent locally helps support local families.
Every local business that grows helps strengthen our communities.

Every friendship made creates a stronger sense of belonging.
Vancouver Island has hundreds of unique communities, each with its own identity, history and culture. Those communities deserve a platform dedicated entirely to them—not as just another location on a map, but as thriving places where people can genuinely connect.

## What We've Built So Far
This project isn't just an idea.
We've already invested countless volunteer hours designing, programming and building Vancouver Island Life ourselves. Every feature, every page and every improvement has been created because we believe in this vision.
Our platform is already live and continues to grow every week.
But we're only getting started.
Our goal is to create the most comprehensive online resource dedicated entirely to Vancouver Island.
Imagine one place where you can discover every community, park, beach, hiking trail, waterfall, campground, local event, business, marketplace listing and hidden gem across the island—all connected together in one easy-to-use platform.
That's what we're working toward.
## Why We're Asking For Help
We're hoping to raise **$10,000** to help us continue building Vancouver Island Life and accelerate its development.
Your support will help cover costs including:
• Cloud hosting and servers
• Secure infrastructure and backups
• API subscriptions and developer services
• Mapping and geographic data
• Building comprehensive local datasets
• AI services that help organize and create thousands of pages of useful local information
• Software licensing and development tools
• Ongoing operating expenses while we continue expanding the platform
Every dollar raised goes directly back into building and improving Vancouver Island Life.
Our long-term goal is for the platform to become financially self-sustaining through ethical advertising, business memberships and other responsible revenue sources so it can continue serving Vancouver Island for years to come.
This fundraiser isn't about making a profit.
It's about helping us build something meaningful for our communities.
