<div># Help Us Build Vancouver Island's Community Hub
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hello!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We're Greg, Angela and Jodi—three lifelong Vancouver Island residents and friends of more than 25 years who share a simple vision.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We believe Vancouver Island deserves a place to call its own online.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><a href="https://vancouverislandlife.ca" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://vancouverislandlife.ca" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://vancouverislandlife.ca</a></a> | <a href="https://locora.ca" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://locora.ca</a>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That's why we created **Vancouver Island Life, powered by LOCORA**.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>LOCORA was inspired by two simple ideas: **Local** and **Aura**.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every community has its own unique atmosphere, personality and spirit. Every town has its own stories, traditions, businesses, events, hidden gems and people who make it special. Our goal is to bring that local spirit online and create one welcoming place where people can discover, connect and celebrate everything that makes Vancouver Island extraordinary.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This isn't just another marketplace.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It isn't just another directory.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It isn't just another tourism website.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It's a community platform built by local people, for local people.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our vision is to create one modern platform where you can:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Discover communities, beaches, parks, trails and hidden gems.
</div>
<div>• Support local businesses and entrepreneurs.
</div>
<div>• Buy and sell locally through a Vancouver Island marketplace.
</div>
<div>• Find local jobs and services.
</div>
<div>• Explore events happening across the island.
</div>
<div>• Meet new people through LOCORA Connections—whether you're looking for friendships, activity partners, community groups or meaningful relationships.
</div>
<div>• Share photographs, stories and experiences.
</div>
<div>• Learn more about the incredible places that make Vancouver Island one of the most beautiful places in the world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Why Local Matters More Than Ever
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The world is changing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, it's easier than ever to shop from large international companies, but that also means many local businesses, community organizations and independent creators struggle to be discovered.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We believe our communities deserve better.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When local people discover local businesses, local events and local services, everyone benefits.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every dollar spent locally helps support local families.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every local business that grows helps strengthen our communities.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every event attended brings neighbours together.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every friendship made creates a stronger sense of belonging.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Vancouver Island has hundreds of unique communities, each with its own identity, history and culture. Those communities deserve a platform dedicated entirely to them—not as just another location on a map, but as thriving places where people can genuinely connect.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That's the future we're building.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A place to discover local.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A place to support local.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A place to connect local.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## What We've Built So Far
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This project isn't just an idea.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We've already invested countless volunteer hours designing, programming and building Vancouver Island Life ourselves. Every feature, every page and every improvement has been created because we believe in this vision.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our platform is already live and continues to grow every week.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But we're only getting started.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our goal is to create the most comprehensive online resource dedicated entirely to Vancouver Island.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Imagine one place where you can discover every community, park, beach, hiking trail, waterfall, campground, local event, business, marketplace listing and hidden gem across the island—all connected together in one easy-to-use platform.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That's what we're working toward.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Why We're Asking For Help
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We're hoping to raise **$10,000** to help us continue building Vancouver Island Life and accelerate its development.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your support will help cover costs including:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Cloud hosting and servers
</div>
<div>• Secure infrastructure and backups
</div>
<div>• API subscriptions and developer services
</div>
<div>• Mapping and geographic data
</div>
<div>• Building comprehensive local datasets
</div>
<div>• AI services that help organize and create thousands of pages of useful local information
</div>
<div>• Software licensing and development tools
</div>
<div>• Ongoing operating expenses while we continue expanding the platform
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every dollar raised goes directly back into building and improving Vancouver Island Life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our long-term goal is for the platform to become financially self-sustaining through ethical advertising, business memberships and other responsible revenue sources so it can continue serving Vancouver Island for years to come.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fundraiser isn't about making a profit.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It's about helping us build something meaningful for our communities.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## There Are Many Ways You Can Help
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Not everyone is in a position to donate, and we completely understand.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Building a community takes more than funding—it takes people who care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>You can help by:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Sharing Vancouver Island Life with family and friends.
</div>
<div>• Telling local businesses about the platform.
</div>
<div>• Becoming a volunteer contributor.
</div>
<div>• Sharing your photography of Vancouver Island.
</div>
<div>• Writing articles or local stories.
</div>
<div>• Helping us discover new events, businesses and hidden gems.
</div>
<div>• Providing ideas and feedback.
</div>
<div>• Inviting others to become members.
</div>
<div>• Simply using the platform and helping it grow.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every contribution matters.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every photo tells a story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every article helps someone discover somewhere new.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every new member makes our community stronger.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every local business we help reach new customers strengthens Vancouver Island.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Whether you're a photographer, writer, explorer, community volunteer or simply someone who loves this island as much as we do, we'd love to have you join our journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All contributor-submitted work is fully credited because Vancouver Island Life is built by the community, for the community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>## Join Our Journey
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know this is an ambitious project.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We also know that the best communities are built together.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our dream is to create a lasting resource that encourages people to explore more of Vancouver Island, support local businesses, build new friendships and discover everything our island has to offer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One day, we hope Vancouver Island Life will become the first place people visit when they want to know what's happening anywhere on Vancouver Island.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A place that belongs to all of us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Whether you donate, volunteer, contribute your talents or simply share our story, you're helping build something that we hope will serve Vancouver Island for generations to come.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for believing in local communities.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for believing in Vancouver Island.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for believing in us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With sincere gratitude,
</div>
