On Friday, June 20th — just days after celebrating her 45th birthday — Shatonya "Tonya" Sledge suffered a serious ischemic stroke that changed everything in an instant.

Tonya was born and raised in Pilot Point, Texas. A proud graduate of Pilot Point High School, Class of 1999, she began her career of service and compassion in 2008 at the Pilot Point Care Center. For over 15 years, Tonya has dedicated her life to caring for others — patients, coworkers, and her community alike. She’s the kind of person who never hesitates to put others before herself.

Even from her hospital bed, during one of the most difficult moments of her life, Tonya was able to FaceTime me. Her first concern? Payroll — making sure her team was taken care of. That’s just who she is. Selfless. Compassionate. Always thinking of others.
