Help Tess Secure Legal Support for Custody of Her Child

This is not easy to write. Asking for help, especially financial help, is something that brings a deep sense of discomfort and shame, as I've worked hard my entire life to never put myself in this position. But sometimes, love for your child gives you the courage to reach out and admit you need help.

I am doing everything I can to protect and provide for my child, but have come into severe financial instability due to several factors. One being I am currently paying two mortgages as the shared home I moved out of has been listed for sale or rent for 4 months and is still sitting empty. Additionally, due to a recent custody matter, I’m in urgent need of legal support. Several months ago, I retained a lawyer I trust; however, in order to continue representation, I have to replenish the $5,000 retainer fee. While I’m working hard to make ends meet, this amount is simply out of reach on my own. For the first time since college, I am back living paycheck to paycheck.
