My name is Carissa and my husband Jared, who works for GoFundMe, and I feel fortunate to be able to sponsor a low-income family that lives in National City to help make their Christmas brighter.
He and I are carrying on a tradition that my mom, an early childhood educator with National City School District, has made possible for many years now. We have sponsored families around the holidays for the past five years, and it’s a tradition that she showed me when I was much younger and she was working as a preschool teacher in Fallbrook. This year, she is also sponsoring a family, as is my sister. All in all, we will be able to make a difference for 8 kids living in National City, and take the burden off some likely very stressed parents who are struggling to figure out how to afford everything during a time when the cost of nearly everything is up.

As we all know, for kids, Christmas is about gifts from Santa. We help purchase gifts the kids need, from clothes to toys, and purchase other essentials like diapers and food if needed. Your donation will help us provide even more to these families.
The campaign photo shows what we’ve been able to do in the past. We drop the wrapped gifts off directly to the parent(s) and it’s truly an honor to meet them and play a role in their Christmas.
