<div>We wanted to give you all an update on our dear friend Tina Shepard. Tina and Mom (Mrs. Carol) were chauffeured home by Alex (Tina’s daughter) in September. Scott (Tina’s son) kept the home front going. It was not an easy trip home for Tina as she had just finished chemo and radiation treatments. The radiation left her with second and third degree burns internally as well as externally directly in the areas of the cancer. It was a very long, slow recovery from the burns themselves, let alone the chemo treatments and just the sheer exhaustion from the cancer itself. Tina spent the next two months in severe pain and was for the most part in the bed.

<div>Mom (Mrs. Carol) fell and broke her back in two places so she was down as well. It was a very intense autumn for all of them. God’s grace and peace certainly carried them!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After colds and all the viruses ran through the family, by later in December, both Tina and Carol were starting to have some good days. So much gratitude for your prayers that certainly helped.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For the first time since being home from the Mayo in Jacksonville, Tina, along with Mom and their “chaueffer” Scott were able to go to Alex’s house to spend a couple days there for Christmas. Just getting out of the house and being with the family brightened everyone’s spirits.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In about two weeks, January 27, Tina has to be back at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for all sorts of testing and consultations as a follow up to her treatments. As always, we are praying for the best possible news for Tina to be cancer free. Our God is more than able! But we also know, sometimes God doesn’t always heal like we want. If this is the case and the cancer is still present, Tina will need to have a long, quite complicated 10-12 hour surgery to remove the cancer and reconstruct the area surrounding the tumor site.

<div>Hi my name is Gayle and along with some sweet friends, we are gathering to help get our precious Tina Shepard to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Tina was recently diagnosed with some very aggressive, rare types of both colorectal and vaginal cancers.

<div>Tina lives in Tennessee. She and her mom will need to fly from Nashville to Jacksonville, and stay in Jacksonville while she receives both chemotherapy and radiation. This will be a 6-8 week stay. In addition to the cost of travel, there will be hotel expenses and meals needed. This doesn’t even begin to account for the medical costs.

<div>Medical Life Lines Ukraine has (as of the end of March 2024) delivered 57 aid-filled ambulances to Ukraine alongside 21 generators and one all-terrain rescue crane since Putin's illegal full-blown invasion of Ukraine. This work has undoubtedly saved lives and - perhaps more importantly - shown the people of Ukraine that a huge number of people in the outside world are acutely aware of their plight and keen to help them whenever they can.

<div>This Spring and Summer we aim to deliver a significant number of additional ambulances in convoys leaving in May, August and September. These will follow in the wake of nine earlier convoys and demonstrate our continuing desire to stand with Ukraine.

We work closely with the health and emergency authorities in Ukraine to identify what is needed so that we can then deliver what people actually need, where they need it.

<div>I am asking for assistance for my two beautiful children, my son Jermaine who is 5, and and my daughter Robyn who is 6. I have been a single father for over 3 years now. It really is just me and my kids out here trying to survive. I have not been able to keep a steady job at times, due to not always having someone available or even trust worthy to watch my beautiful babies. Also, my transportation is not in the best shape, but we make do. I am almost at my breaking point because everything is pilling up on me and it's just me by myself. I am asking for assistance to get a new place that is more comfortable, safe, and livable for me and my children. I am also needing assistance to get my kids some new clothes, shoes, etc. It is also hard to keep the proper nutritional food in the house due to my income or lack there of. I am a very hard worker, I do not complain. I have taken all the lemons thrown at me in life and have done the best I can to turn them into lemonade. I have realized that my kids didn't ask to be born to these situations or conditions and It's not fair. It hasn't been easy at all but I am determined to continue to be there and provide the world for them. Any assistance you can provide to me and my babies I would be grateful. So, in 2010, as a high school junior, Yasmine started ScholarCHIPS, a nonprofit that provides college scholarships and a support network to high school graduates who have incarcerated parents. The organization has empowered more than 80 scholars as they earn their college degrees, awarding more than $450,000 in scholarships and other aid.

Our hearts are breaking for the victims and survivors of the mass shooting at the <strong>Allen, TX Outlet Mall</strong> where 8 people were murdered, 3 are in critical condition, and 4 are stable in area hospitals on <strong>May 6, 2023</strong>.

<div><strong><em>We are the same families of previous mass shootings who collected donations for Uvalde, TX school shooting victims and ensured that 100% went directly to them. We will do the same again for our new, unfortunate mass shooting family in Allen.</em></strong>

<div>Our families of previous mass shootings have been re-victimized when nonprofits say they are collecting donations for victims but do not actually give donations directly to victims. VictimsFirst's philosophy is very different. We believe in full transparency, honoring donor intent and providing the victims the opportunity to choose for themselves how to spend your generous financial gifts meant for them.

Allen, TX Shooting Victims' Fund

<div>Christopher Vane’s commitment to saving animals in need is apparent in every facet of his life. Harnessing his life experiences, creativity, and desire to provide a better world for farm animals, he lives each day caring for hundreds of previously abused or slaughter-bound animals. His deep passion for animal rescue is something he attributes to his mother, Ursula.
</div>

<div>Ursula spent her life caring for animals and she often dreamed of building a large barn on her property, one that could be a safe haven for animals in need. Unfortunately, she passed away before she could fulfill that dream. Making a difference in the world – for both animals and people – was a value Ursula imprinted in Christopher early on and, a realtor at the time, he was never truly fulfilled – always yearning to do more.
</div>

</div>
<div>When Christopher met Randy (now his husband) everything clicked. The connection between the couple was immediate and powerful, and one passion that truly bonded them was their deep affection and respect for animals.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>“My mom always told me, ‘If you go out on a limb, take someone with you so you’re not alone,’” Christopher said. “When I met Randy, everything changed. Our path together became really clear.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Christopher and Randy channeled Ursula’s dream of that one barn and purchased a 10-acre property in Punta Gorda, Florida. They gathered resources, sharpened the plans that had long been in the works, and officially established Little Bear Sanctuary, naming the sanctuary in honor of Ursula which translates to “little bear” in Latin.
</div>

<div>In an effort to save resources, Christopher became a veterinary technician (knowledge and expertise that would later prove to be invaluable). As quickly as the sanctuary’s fencing and structures were built, the need to rescue slaughter-bound or abused farm animals grew just as quickly (if not quicker). Fortunately, Little Bear Sanctuary had the opportunity to expand their property lines an additional 20 acres. And, shortly after, Christopher left the veterinary office and now devotes his days to caring for their resident animals.

<div>To date, Little Bear Sanctuary has rescued over 150 farm animals, each one facing an incredibly bleak future if Christopher hadn’t intervened. While a lot has changed over the past few years, Little Bear Sanctuary’s mission has remained unwavering: to provide a permanent home for abandoned or disregarded farm animals. The sanctuary is open to all animals in need, affording farm animals an opportunity to live out their lives in peace.
